A percussion-cap muff pistol made for a wealthy lady, kept in its storage case, c. 1850.
Original; no purchase licence required.
Muzzle-loading.
Unrestored!!
Length approx. 16 cm and calibre approx. 12 mm!!
Made for a woman for self-defence; would fit a muff, pocket, bag or hand.
Beautiful, rarer luxury model with fine engravings!
Concealed trigger — the trigger rises when the pistol is cocked into firing position.
The mechanism does not work properly: springs and parts intact but the trigger does not rise
when cocked, so it also does not lock into position.
Appears complete on inspection; either reassembled incorrectly at the last service or worn.
Needs repair/service to make safe to fire,
in this condition it can only be fired manually by cocking and releasing the hammer.
