A quality, solid oak plank table top consisting of two "planks" made from 3.6 cm thick glued board. The surface is lacquered, so it does not require the regular maintenance treatment that an oiled finish does. The lacquer is applied three times with a water-based interior matt lacquer. The top has a slightly brushed surface that emphasises the natural features of the oak, bringing out the beautiful grain. Knots are a natural part of solid wood. Knots may have narrow cracks that can be repaired. The surface is not completely smooth; oak has a slightly coarse texture that can be felt when running your hand over the table. Because of this texture there may be minor differences in sheen on the lacquered surface.
