Frame of a traditional laavu made from 120 mm round logs, with a small rebate.

Internal dimensions 2.5 x 1.5 m, external approx. 3 x 2 m. Roof width 4 m and the depth can be made to approx. 3.5 m, leaving about a 1 m front overhang.

It is recommended to place 25–30 cm slabs/blocks under the corners, which raises the front height to over 180 cm from the ground.

For the finished laavu you only need to add the slabs/blocks underneath plus plank and board material and roofing.

Sturdy floor logs to which floorboards can be fixed directly. Roof logs make it easy to attach the required beams, e.g. 50 x 100 mm beams, on top of which you lay boards and roofing.

Front opening width 1.8 m. Two seating places can easily be made at the front corners on the longer logs.

Both sides have sheltered spots for woodpiles.

The frame is made of very dense, turned pine. Built to last from father to grandson :-)
