Sauna for difficult sites

Barrel saunas are lightweight structures and can be moved even after the first steams. The secret of a barrel sauna built on a solid gravel bed is the support legs under the barrel, which keep the sauna off the ground and allow easy relocation. The lack of heavy, fixed foundations makes siting easier, and many use a barrel sauna as a lakeside sauna because you cannot build a permanently founded sauna that close to the shore. You can of course place your barrel sauna on top of a deck or pour a concrete base beneath it, but siting is largely down to imagination. Still, remember to use a spirit level on the base so the sauna stands straight. The intention is not to move the sauna mid-steam.

The barrel sauna can be moved with a forklift or tractor lift using straps. A sauna moved to the beach for summer can easily be relocated closer to the cottage or house for winter with the help of a neighbouring farmer.

Small space wonder

The wooden sauna capsule accommodates up to 6–8 bathers depending on rear size and comfort preference. Quality pine benches indulge bathers with warm tones. The Harvia M3 stove brings gentle heat to the barrel and the playful flames through the glass hatch cast a warm glow on the sauna walls. Small windows and the door window also bring light into the barrel. You won't run out of air — you can simply open the door briefly to let in plenty of fresh air.

Waste water under control

The optional Sauna-Seppo wash-water filter removes greywater worries: water run through the filter can be released back into nature without causing environmental fines from building control.

Almost shoulder-carried delivery

We are happy to deliver the whole unit to your home yard and you do not need lifting equipment if you choose delivery by HIAB truck. However, the Barrel sauna with front terrace weighs only 800 kg so you can also collect it with your own trailer if your vehicle towing capacity is enough. You could almost carry it on your shoulder home — almost. A trailer is better.

The delivery contents include all essentials, roofing felt included. We can also provide architectural drawings for the building authorities if needed, but nowadays this size of sauna should usually be possible without a formal building permit. You will receive pictorial instructions and drawings with the sauna; you can request them in advance so that when the delivery arrives you can start assembling your new garden sauna straight away. You will need a drill, screwdriver, hammer, saw, tape measure, pencil and a calm enthusiasm for the assembly work. Always read the instructions carefully before performing any work phase.
