Alright ladies and gents!!

This would suit its next commander like a picture‑perfect wet dream for every barber.

The car has a very typical and sad story for these models, which eventually turned into sparkling joy and euphoria.

At the start of the year the vehicle began to flash the oil pressure warning light and it was taken to the garage.

They told Esa‑Pekka the bad news: the big‑end bearings had reached their limit and the engine was no longer circulating oil properly.

I heard about it and, of course, seeing opportunity and loving a challenge, I offered cash for the car. Before long the noble steed travelled on a Volvo flatbed from Joensuu to Siilinjärvi.

Feeling strong, and with a drink for company, I started looking for a new power unit and found one fairly easily with 110,000 km on the clock. The ad also mentioned the timing chain had been changed 10,000 km earlier, so a committed BMW enthusiast loosens his purse strings.

I also ordered a new clutch with a solid flywheel and all service parts.

Then summer came and I had to work on the house, go to work etc... I could list endless excuses why the project dragged until October.

Anyway, one October Friday I towed the Bavarian (with another Bavarian) to work and that weekend the long‑awaited moment arrived! It's Alive!!

The following week I went to the MOT with my ankle held straight to get the defect list and, to my surprise, it was very short — in fact, there was nothing to fix. (I was surprised)

This started our shared journey of currently 1,800 unbelievable and fantastic kilometres. Daily 40 km to work accompanied by a bit of gloom and another 40 km straight‑leg home.

Now this proud Bayerische Motoren Werke gets to continue this eventful story in the hands of a new commander.

• Engine

• Flywheel + clutch assembly

• Engine oil and filter

• Cabin filter and air filter

• Spark plugs

• Coolant

• Both rear wheel bearings and driveshafts

• Optibeam Savage 7 auxiliary lights

New friction winter tyres fitted on the pictured wheels.

Official summer tyres are not currently fitted but are available if required.
