Dacia Duster dCi 110 4x4, Rust‑protected and freshly inspected, 2014, Lappeenranta

Up for bid is the now almost legendary four‑wheel‑drive Dacia Duster — sell to the highest bidder.

For its age this Duster is in quite tidy condition both outside and inside. These cars are often used rather hard for hunting and work, but this example hasn’t been stressed that much. It isn’t dented and has never been in an accident, though there are of course normal signs of use. It’s presentable in a supermarket car park.

The interior is very clean and tidy and, above all, odour‑free — no smoking and I can’t detect any pet smells. The seats haven’t been deeply shampooed, so there are a few marks but nothing that would be disturbing.

This was briefly also on sale with us, so it’s tidy enough for anyone.

It drives very well; there’s nothing wrong with the suspension or four‑wheel drive. No rattles or knocks and all the power is there. It’s also just been inspected — the next inspection isn’t due until October 2026.

As a side note, Renault’s small diesel engines are still some of the best small diesels ever made. VW’s TDI doesn’t come close. :) The same engine has been used in some Nissans and Mercs besides Renault and Dacia.

The service history is actually pretty good — not every stamp is from a main dealer, but I could find the entries. The service book in these is at the back of the handbook, so some small garages don’t always know where to mark it. One entry was missing from this book but I found a receipt showing the 140,000 km service was done. The most recent service also included replacing a number of suspension parts.

This example is the best‑equipped version available at the time — it has the nicer radio unit and it should even have navigation, though that would require a bit of work to load; these days most use their phones for navigation. Note also this is the newer front‑end model, not the one from one year earlier — a noticeably different car.

A towbar is fitted and towing capacity is 1,500 kg.

The summer tyres: two are excellent and two are acceptable. The winter tyres are in excellent condition — one stud has come out of one tyre but visually about 90% of the studs remain. Both winter wheels are on Dacia original alloy rims. The pictures show the summer tyres fitted, but when the auction ends the winter tyres will have been fitted, so the buyer won’t have to drive home on summer tyres.

The only downside is the tailgate locking mechanism — it doesn’t fully latch and the boot light stays on. It may be fixable by adjusting the lock/latch distance, as this has been an issue on several of these. The lock worked when I took the car in part‑exchange, but with freezing conditions and ice it stopped working. I didn’t investigate further; it’s not a major issue.

The person who bids the most for this car will almost certainly collect it from here, so follow the auction closely and bid boldly.
